Dear friends,
My best and latest rejection for my novel landed in my inbox this morning. No matter how reconciled and chill I tell myself I am, a rejection always feels like being kicked in the chest by something large and well-trained in the art of kicking.
I sat down with my beloveds and we talked, and eventually I realized it’s time to change tack.
So I have a new mission. It goes something like don’t bring a knife to a gunfight, except in my case it’s more like, Don’t bring a word processor to a spell-casting.
It’s time to bring the magic. I’m going the full woo on publishing this book now.
What do I mean “the full woo”? I’m going to completely leave cultural assumptions behind about publishing, and treat this the way I would any other magical pursuit. I’m actually pretty good at magic. I’m surprised it’s taken until now to realize that’s what’s called for.

Does this mean you’ll be self- publishing ?
I was secretly hoping you’d do this all along.
